Jhoom Barber Jhoom

SRK lands in a unidentifiable machine from another planet on to another, then suddenly Deepika appears, so is one song. SRK has made sure that the entertainment quotient flows throughout the movie. And to most extent it does. When the movie was about to finish...it was again SRK who takes the centre stage. There are 4 songs in the movie. And who is there in all of them? Yes, again SRK. I mean we do need a break from him... And guess what? He gives you that break. And every now and then, there is one guy who keeps popping in to the screen and makes us sit and watch him closely. He delivers his dialogues with uncanny delicacy and sheer simplicity. Yet they are so powerful and moving that you will find yourself in tears when he finally chokes in the climax for just 10 seconds.

Presenting the ultra talented Irfaan Khan in front of you, once again delivering a fine act. This is his movie, he holds the movie and he gives you the worth of your money. I wish Priyadarshan could have given him more time in the movie. The film is about two friends and how they finally met for just 5 minutes. The theme is nice, but I felt another director could have given this a different treatment. But Priyan Sir also pulled it off nicely.

Lara has done a decent job. And again Mr. Priyadarshan has brought back his cast who are there with him for last 10 or more movies. Starting from Om Puri to Rajpal Yadav. Everyone has pulled off their own small part pretty nicely.

Overall the movie is well shot with some nice locales, some unnecessary special effects and decent music from Pritam (his first for SRK).  I would give an extra .5 for that one man who made the movie look better single-handedly. It's you Irfaan.

Verdict: (2.5+ .5) 3 out of 5

  1. I would go with 2.5 (max) as I believe Priyadarshan went wrong by giving SRK too much of screen space. U can find the same character played by Mammoty in Tamil appears very rarely. Here SRK tried to dominate Irfaan....

But at the end Irfaan shines...
    One time watch...

  2. HI, He is back. The best Marketer of Bollywood ( Among Actors) is back with typical masala Hindi movie. Although it’s a Irfan movie but SRK has not left any stone utter to make it a success. Strong points of movie are Irfan, Priyadarsan’s direction & Pritam’s music. Not a typical SRK banner movie (having 2.15 Hr duration ) lacks the full expose of some fantastic actors. Actors like Ompuri, Rajpal Yadav etc are introduced but not properly executed. Even lead actor Irfan needs more space. Some surprise package in movie are Billu’s children ( mainly the Son) & emotional last speech by SRK. The larger than life style of Superstar played by SRK lacks reality, but that is his style. Many sequences in movie u will fell SRK touch which is contradict Priyan Sir’s way of making movie. Music is rocking & is a big boost to movie.

I think movie will do well in smaller towns & do average business. Its not movie meant for Metro public.I will give 3 out of 5. As this is 75th movie directed by Priyan Sir I wish him all success & expect many more from his side.

  3. Thanx for your comments bros...

Even the verdict of Mayank, Rajeev & Anupama is ranging between 1.5 to 3. If this movie holds on through the weekdays then it can collect good amount as it's opening is decent. It can not expect good business next weekend as it will face Delhi 6 and it does not have a strong chance to fight Delhi 6 on weekends.

All the best to Red Chillies Entertainment.
